    Meals are deliciously prepared ready-to-eat meals that meet daily nutritional requirements. They can be stored without refrigeration for up to three to five years depending on storage atmosphere. Meal cases are packed 2 each of 6 different menus for a total of 12 meals per case. Entrée selection varies with each production run and is determined by inventory availability at the time.

    Sure-Pak meals were originally developed for use by the military for times when formal meal preparation was not possible. The meals are fully cooked, nutritious, lightweight, and simple to store. This has made them popular for disaster relief meals as well as on-the-go meals for hikers, campers, hunters, and outdoor enthusiasts.

    What are self-heating options?
    Sure-Pak meals can be eaten cold or hot. If a hot meal is preferred, there are several heating options. Pouches can be placed in direct sunlight or on a heated surface. The pouches can also be placed directly in boiling water. A flameless, self-heating option is available, but is not recommended for the young or elderly as it does pose a risk of injury due to high heat.

    How many calories does each Sure-Pak Meal contain?
    Our Sure-Pak meals contain between 1000 – 1250 calories per meal, depending on the entree and individual components. A minimum of two meals per person per day is recommended for a 72-hr period.

    How long with Sure-Pak MRE Meals last?
    Our Sure-Pak meals have a shelf life of up to 5 years if stored at 70 degrees farenheit or less. Conversely, heat may shorten the shelf life. Freezing is not recommended as it may damage the seal on the pouches used to package the entrees and side dishes, causing them to spoil.

    How do I find the expiration date on my Sure-Pak Meal?
    Because the shelf life varies based on storage temperature, Sure-Pak meals do not have an expiration date. there is, however, a pack date on the bottom of the case in the form of a four-digit number such as “3123”; the “3” represents the year “2013”; the “123” represents the actual day of that year (or Julian date); in this case it was packed on the 123rd day of 2013.
