These foods are lightweight, require little preparation time, and have a long shelf life. If you have to leave your house or if your car breaks down on the side of the road, you can easily carry them with you. You can even feed yourself for a few days thanks to the fact that they are carefully preserved in a bug-out bag. In light of this, it's a good idea to make sure you have a few wholesome meals on hand that won't require refrigeration or freezing. And with that said, freeze-dried snacks and MREs are the best method to do it (meal ready to eat).
